oil on a wooden panel 40x40x5cm
Ashar’s Hidden Between is a quiet revelation of balance and mystery. Unfolding in a gentle gradient from light blue to pale beige, creating a tranquil field where elements seem to hover in a state of suspension. On the left, seven short black horizontal lines—slightly curved and unevenly spaced—rise like breath marks or coded signals, evoking rhythm and repetition.
Toward the bottom right, a large white circle glows softly against the muted background, suggesting a moon, a void, or a portal. Its placement feels deliberate yet enigmatic, as if guarding something unseen. A faint reddish vertical streak near the right edge adds a whisper of warmth and tension, hinting at movement or transformation.
Minimalist in form but rich in suggestion, Hidden Between invites viewers to contemplate the spaces between symbols, the silence between gestures, and the unseen forces that shape perception. It’s a meditation on presence, absence, and the quiet poetry of abstraction.
I use oil pastels, oil sticks, markers, scrapers, charcoal, pigment sticks, newspaper, and graphite, as well as gold and silver leaf, to make marks that fit the moment. UV protected, signed on the back. The work is on a plywood panel and is ready to hang. No further framing is needed.
