oil on a wooden panel 61x76cm
Brackenwind — a poetic nod to Dartmoor’s wild flora and the invisible currents that shape its soul.
A soft gradient of blue and white sets the tone—misty, expansive, and quietly luminous. On the right, a tangled burst of organic lines unfurls in reds, oranges, greens, and yellows, like wind-stirred bracken or the hidden life beneath moorland soil. Leaf-like forms drift within the cluster, hinting at growth, memory, and movement. The left side remains spacious, with faint traces of colour suggesting drift or dispersal.
This painting evokes Dartmoor not through topography, but through atmosphere—its shifting light, its quiet intensity, its layered histories. The composition suggests a moment of emergence, as if something rooted is beginning to reach outward, carried by wind or thought.
For collectors, this work offers a lyrical abstraction of place. It’s ideal for those drawn to subtle dynamism and emotional resonance—where nature and memory intertwine.

I use oil pastels, oil sticks, markers, scrapers, charcoal, pigment sticks, newspaper, and graphite to make marks, whichever fits the moment.
UV protected, signed on the back. The work is on a plywood panel and is ready to hang. No further framing is needed.
